CABIN FEVER RELIEVER DANCE POSTPONED

Unfortunately, this Friday's Cabin Fever Reliever K-5 Dance has been postponed. But, no worries, we will hold the dance and basket raffle on Friday, March 30th from 6p-8p!! Please continue to send in your donations for the baskets that will be raffled off that evening. Each grade has been assigned a "theme" for their basket and those flyers went home last week. PureArt Fundraiser

Today, our PureArt Fundraiser will be coming home!!! Your child created a wonderful piece of artwork under the guidance of our Art Teacher, Mrs. Devin.

You have the opportunity to order your child's artwork made into fabulous cards, note cards, bookplates, matted artwork and other great gift items.

This local company also will give our school 60% OF THE PROFIT from this fundraiser ..... 60% of your total order will go directly to us!!! We are sure that you and your child will be delighted with this special way to send your holiday greetings, notes & postcards. We are so happy to be bringing this back again this year as it was a HUGE hit the last TWO years!! Look for it in your child's backpack this afternoon!

April 14th Meeting Cancelled ....

Our normal PTC meeting is this Thursday, April 14th but I don't have any topics to discuss so we will be postponing until next month.

Dear Coordinator,

We regret to inform you that we will be unable to offer Temples Oranges for your March sale.

The reason for this change is due to the "sugar/acid ratio" of the fruit. We have determined that sugar levels are very high and the acid levels are very low. While normally this is a very desirable characteristic in citrus, the ratios are far too extreme .

Simply put, the fruit left on the trees is too ripe to ship.

We apologize for any inconvenience this change may cause.

Recycle your old cell phones

The PTC is going to be starting a new program to recycle old cell phones! This not only will raise $$$ for our school programs but will also help protect our landfills from the toxic substances that are found inside cell phones. There will be a new recycling box outside the main office at WCS for you to drop it them into, they are sent to a company that refurbishes them (yes, they will even take broken phones) and then sends them onto a variety of organizations including servicemen and women, homeless shelters, women's shelters, etc.

So, please search all those old "junk drawers" and dig out those cell phones!!

Superintendent Forum

PUBLIC FORUM: WEDNESDAY, FEBRUARY 16, 2011 IN THE BATH MIDDLE SCHOOL CAFETERIA AT 6:30 PM. The Board is looking for community input on qualities that the Board should seek in a new Superintendent.

MidCoast Parents Connect and a freebie!!

Midcoast Parents Connect has provided a link to a great online program for parents and how to handle teen drinking and really relates to over the counter drugs, as well as, prescription drugs. Read below how to win some free STUFF! It is a great program to watch!

4. Click on "Parent's Cafe" to start the course!

Remember, if you get interrupted once you start the course you can logout and return when you have more time and the program will remember where you left off.

We are excited to have this new resource to offer to busy parents who need advice on how to talk to their teens about the risks associated with underage drinking.

At the end of the course parents are given the option of completing a commitment statement that serves to remind you of the steps you plan to take to help your teen make healthy choices about drinking. As a way of saying thank you for completing the course, we will award $10 gift certificates to Subway or Regal Cinemas to the first 20 parents who email a copy of their commitment statement to prevention@midcoasthealth.com.

Wow, I'm not sure about anyone else but did this summer fly by or what??!! Amazing to believe school will be starting in just a few days!! I am really excited to get back and this year we have some new and exciting fund raising ideas and events!!

Teacher Appreciation Week Round-Up...

This week was Teacher/Staff Appreciation Week at WCS! On Monday, we treated the staff to a variety of mixed fresh fruit trays in the staff room. On Tuesday, we served up some yummy veggie trays. On Wednesday, we had bowls filled with three different kinds of trail mixes for them to munch on. On Thursday, we replaced our traditional "Dunkin Donuts Day" with a healthy version of breakfast breads, muffins and croissants to fill them up. And today, they will each be receiving a pretty pink geranium with a "You Are Amazing" paw tag letting the WCS Staff know how awesome we think they are! Thought I'd post a couple of pictures and I am going to try to remember to do this more often so if you can not make an event, etc. you can still see what the PTC is up to!
