Unfortunately, this Friday's Cabin Fever Reliever K-5 Dance has been postponed. But, no worries, we will hold the dance and basket raffle on Friday, March 30th from 6p-8p!! Please continue to send in your donations for the baskets that will be raffled off that evening. Each grade has been assigned a "theme" for their basket and those flyers went home last week. Meeting Minutes - December 8, 2011

Woolwich PTA

Meeting December 8, 2011

Meeting called to order at 6:04 PM

Minutes from meeting held November 10, 2011 approved by all in attendance.

OLD BUSINESS:

Shop Til U Drop: raised approximately $1000 between tables, raffle, goodie walk; compared to approximately $200 last year.

  • Vendor Comments

Ø Complaint about being in the hall, not the gym

Ø Comment about extending the time for next year

  • Also may want to consider bumping the date up to before Thanksgiving next year to be more competitive with other fairs and due to early shoppers.

  • Cookie Walk: need to push for donations of holiday themed items, and fudge.

Ø Need more variety

Ø Need to advertise more

  • Suggestion to add food so we don’t loose shoppers around lunchtime. Need someone to head this up; possibly 8th graders as part of DC fundraising.

Bookfair: Sold $1900 overall; $1000 of which was at STUD. Up $300 from last year’s bookfair that was held at this time.

Genevieve’s: we received the passes to Coco Keys finally; need to hand out to teachers for students who earned them.

Terracycle: total of 800

Boxtops: getting ready to start snowball fight. Debate about rules led to the following decisions:

  • Jennifer to send email to teachers including that they should contact her directly with questions and concerns.
  • As individual students bring in completed sheets of ten that student can choose which class to ‘throw’ that snowball at.
  • Any loose boxtops turned in will allow the class to decide which class to ‘throw’ the snowball at.

Ink Cartridges: Tracy set up the account at Staples in the name of Woolwich PTA, with Tracy’s email address and phone number as a contact. We can only turn in ten per month.

  • We can look into other companies for recycling since this one takes a limited amount per month.
  • Tracy will go back for clarification to see if the Staples Rewards expire. We can possibly set up additional accounts in different names to get around the limit.

NEW BUSINESS:

Movie Night: Fisher Mitchell is holding successful ones, why can’t we?

Author Visit: We won an author visit for the week after February vacation, valued at $1500, with an author by the last name of Lords.

Meeting adjourned 7:04 PM

Next meeting January 12, 2012, if needed.
